I have issues with my glands.

As Ashley so beautifully put it, it is possible that I am a nerd. Because GUESS WHAT OPENS IN ABOUT 5 HOURS?! Yeah. You guessed it. The X-Files movie: I Want to Believe. What could be better than THAT, you ask? Well, what if I got to go to the MIDNIGHT PREMIERE and meet DAVID DUCHOVNY!! Well my friends, that would be the best night ever (aside from the Mika concert, of course). So the plans were set, the bar was raised, the curiosity was peaked, and the anticipation mounted. I mean, I was gonna wear socks for the express purpose of having them knocked off.

Then guess what decides to just come along and invade my sinus cavity? That's right - some bacteria. So now, I am but a lowly X-files fan with an appropriate nerdy sniffle. Geez - even my medical MALADIES are nerdy. This is sad.

So now I cannot go to the midnight premiere, which means I cannot meet David Duchovny, which means I cannot KISS David Duchovny, which means that's gonna be on the top of my To-Do list for years to come.

Bummer.

The Ongoing Quest...

I have a goal. It is called, "buy some high top shoes and wear them every day in college and be the coolest kid on campus."

I've narrowed my options down to 5, and I will put them in order of least favorite to MY VERY FAVORITE THAT I THINK I WILL BUY!

#5 - do you see the name of the colors? I made sure to put it in the screen shot. It's called Camel/Eggplant/powder blue. What better combination of colors could their possibly be? You've got your animal, food, and 70s reference. LOVE!

I really like the 80s tastic nature of them, especially the poof, but I fear that I am not cool enough to wear them. I don't want people to think I'm a poser, you know?

#4 - I will call these "DJ Tanner"

These are also rather poofy, but even more 80s slash 90s because of the faux paint splatters and velcro IN ADDITION TO the excitingly colored shoelaces.
But, once again... I risk the poser thing...

#3 - Classic

I love these, they are super awesome, and yet plain enough that they could go with almost any outfit. This was a toughie. The problem is, they are not as awesome as number 2 or number 1. That is why it is number 3.

#2 - I will call these "Native American meets a paint spill"

I love these. Really. They say "HARAJURU LOVERS" and I think that is probably some Japanese Animation thing. Bonus. Being mistaken for an anime freak could be very beneficial if I ever need some nerdy assistance. Alas, they are not the winner because...

(to quote Jen) "Maraca shake please...."

The WINNER! #1

That's right. Your eyes are not deceiving you. Those are ZIPPERS. They are charcoal with multi-colored zippers in the back. I love them with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I think they are alternative enough AND conventional enough.

What a beautifully miraculous paradox.

The sorting hat

I decided that if I was going to be thrown under the sorting hat at Hogwarts, I would be sorted into Ravenclaw house. For those of you who are not familiar with this thrilling world of Harry Potter, I will explain the houses, just a little. Gryffindor is for the brave. Slytherin is for the evil. Ravenclaw is for the smart. Hufflepuff is for everyone else (<-- no seriously, it's so funny, because the book describes all the other houses, and then says "and Hufflepuff would accept everyone else" ha ha.)

So yes, Ravenclaw it is. Not because I consider myself smarter than others, but because I think I'm more smart than I am brave, evil, or nice. The end.
