A nice sequel to my Brilliant Lyrics #1, this song by Jason Mraz is really very deep and contemplative. I love the interesting juxtapositions/paradoxes he brings up.

Conucter's commentary: This video was one I worked very VERY hard on writing. I've been writing this one for at least 2 weeks now. I filmed it all in one day.

Reason #293

Here is yet ANOTHER reason why we should respect Mr. Michael Jackson. Ironically enough, he's being awarded for having a spectacular display of self restraint. 

In September of 1985, Michael bought the ATV catalogue, essentially making him the owner of over 250 Beatles songs. Now, with those rights, he has only covered ONE SONG! Talk about control! I'm very happy that he did this. I get kindof really ultra defensive when it comes to covering the classics... so when I heard that the KING OF POP covered the Beatles, my heart was torn. Love the Beatles, love MJ, hate cover songs... GARRRRGGG!

Surprisingly enough, he does a good job. It's definitely different, but it's not bad. I actually am able to listen to BOTH, and don't shudder or cringe when I hear MJ's version coming on. Congrats MJ!

I love that he is able to maintain a lot of the Beatles flavor, like the nice bass line, etc., but still throws in his shirt-ripping-off, pelvis-thrusting, high-pitched-"oooh"ing self into the mix.

Heighth

Last night I went to a review for my next (but not final, what the?!) calculus exam. While discussing the estimation of integrals (using right and left hand limits) she (the TA doing the review) needed to talk about the area of rectangles. Instead of saying that the area is a matter of height and width, she kept saying that the width was determined by the amount of n segments, and the heighth was determined by the y value at that point. Heighth. HEIGHTH!! Seriously!? I mean, as much as I appreciate the synthesized parallelism between width and heighth, it is still double-u, are, oh, en, gee.

It was annoying, I’m just saying.

A Slight disadvantage

As much as I may or may not fantasize about going to school at Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I thought of a unique disadvantage. Because everyone (including all the professors) live “on campus,” (in the castle) you would have virtually NO excuse for missing class (except maybe, a real one).

Think about it! You can’t just tell Professor McGonnogal that you missed the transfiguration lesson because you were sick... she could ask Madame Pomphrey!

I guess in this way, I am grateful to be going to BYU instead of Howarts. (<--- you better save the link to this post because that’s probably the only time you’ll hear me say that) Because sometimes, you just need to sleep instead of going to the lecture that you already know will be a waste of time.
