Thus, as of this morning, I had one pair of really good, BYU-approved jeans to my name.
Cut to scene two: Melissa looking hot (but in khakis), Mom, also looking hot (in jeans- she actually has more than one pair!) walk into Mervyn's, knowing that we've found some good stuff there before. After browsing a little through the juniors and being a little underwhelmed, we casually went to look at jeans. Most were pretty expensive (for me anyway, I don't like to spend more than 20 bucks for jeans, cheap, I know) but some said they were on sale. So I pulled 6 or 7 promising-looking pairs, and decided just to try them on. Most of them were only lukewarmly pleasing. NOT worth it - especially if I was going to be paying the BIG bucks. One pair was okay - they worked but I didn't LOVE them, but one pair in particular stood out. The golden pair of jeans. (They are blue, don't worry. "Golden" in this case is only referring to their choice status in my eyes, not their hue.) They fit great, they were long enough, and they had a cute butt. What more could a girl ask for? So I looked at the price tag. Normally about $60, on sale for $40. I guess I would have to just suck it up and buy them. I DID need jeans after all.
So we got to the register and I put the golden (in case that tricked you again... don't be alarmed) jeans down on the counter and asked just to see the price (to make sure I got that sale price) and thought I would then decide on the second pair. So she rings in the first pair and $1.95 pops up. I just stared at the screen incredulously. After vocal confirmation that this was indeed the right price, I jovially put down the other pair exclaiming that "God is smiling upon me TODAY!"
So, I grabbed another pair (and took it to another cashier, just in case that initial ring-up was wrong, we didn't want the other pair confiscated) and, long story short...
I am $3.90 poorer, and two pairs of jeans richer, and that is my awesome story for the day.
