They betray me.
The dam guarding my reservoir of tears crumbles far too often.
They look for things I'm trying not to see
and stare too long when I want to look away.
They expose my heart when I put up a façade -
Flash fear when I'm trying to be strong
and let escape a shimmer of amusement when I should be reproachful.
They are truth-tellers in a world where I need to lie.
That's why I should always wear sunglasses.
