Ode to/from Jeanine

My dear, sweet friend Jeanine is an angel. She is ALWAYS supportive but is still honest. I LOVE that about her. She is one of my best best friends I have met this adventurous year at University (I feel cooly foreign when I say that). A couple Sundays ago we napped together in the glorious warmth of our pseudo-Spring that we got this year. Here's a picture of the lovely experience, followed by some of my favorite pictures of Jeanine.

Look how precious we are! Holding hands in the sun.

This is right before Neon Night (which accidentally turned into IHOP night...)

Oh Jeanine, thou art so beautiful!

Sometimes she dresses up as her Mexican doppleganger, Juan.

She comes to SAVERS with me! And finds beautiful windbreakers that have the magical ability to be many different colors at once. What a treasure (Jeanine AND the jacket)

Yesterday she wrote me some raps to cheer me up from my calculus-induced melancholy mood! They are quite wonderful. Enjoy!

Melissa's got a fly booty,
She likes guys that are a little fruity
I wish I had her chestnut hair
that makes all the fellas stare.

Can't you hear that thunder?
Cause my world is goin' under
without your pretty smile
and your pinpin' kickbutt style.
OoOoOoooo... LaLaLaLa
Melissa, I'll love you all my days
I can never forget the ways
you made me fe-el
Oh, I love you more than ve-al
MmMmMmMmm

The Struggle Toward Apathy

Trying to not care.
Attempting to re-prioritize.
Reasoning my way through it.

to let go.

Personal Growth

Have you ever seen those shows where people face their fears to become a better person? I'm not talking about Fear Factor where stupid people eat and/or lay in gross things for the chance to win money, I'm talking about intervention-type shows where people who have irrational (or sometime even rational) fears challenge themselves to FACE them in the hopes that they can improve themselves and become better/stronger people. Well my friends - yesterday I did just THAT (minus the "being broadcast on network television" part).

I went to the Monte L. Bean Museum with a couple friends after lunch yesterday. It is a favorite place of mine (despite a somewhat rocky history) and I wanted to spread the joy to Jordan and Mike, who, until that point were Bean Museum virgins.

Because my monkey fears exist, and I am not subtle, both knew about my severe distain for Satan's spawn. So when we passed the first baboon (on the first floor, by the water buffalo and hippo, you know?) I just played it cool: slight intake of breath, but no audible reaction. By the time we were upstairs by the dik-dik heads and porcupine, however, I was getting a little freaked out. The boys convinced me to "kiss" the mounted baboon head. I was reluctant at first, but how often would I get the chance? Mike started stroking the baboon's face, which didn't help, but it was better than the "ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh" they'd been teasing me with before. Jordan was kind enough to capture the moment.

(Holy - that was a way long explanation... I mostly just wanted to show you THIS hardcore picture) Please notice how menacingly growly that stupid monkey was. I was very scared and it took me a full minute to get THIS close to him.

Also, just for the record: it felt like slash WAS a lot closer than it looks. This makes it look like I was not in breathing range of that guy, which I WAS.

Word of Advice...

Just a little tip for if you ever find yourself on the 2100 floor of Hinckley Hall on campus at BYU in Provo, Utah, and are in need of a shower.

Choose the left-most shower because it has the best water pressure.

You're welcome.
